Most horrifying rape case witnessed in Kerala

Kerala: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE –  A disturbing incident came into light after police discovered 18 men raped a 15-year-old over a year in Kerala.

On Wednesday, Police arrested eight main accuse for allegedly raping a 15-year-old school girl at different days and at various places for over a year in Kannur district, with the incident bearing similarities to the Suryanelli rape case that shocked the state in 1996.

Police investigators have identified 18 people who sexually exploited the victim which includes a class 10^th student.

The victim recalled the whole occurrence and explained that she was befriended by a woman on social media who took her to a lodge in Parasssinikadvu where a man sexually assaulted her as well as the assault, which took place last year, was filmed and later the victim was blackmailed and raped by several others.

Investigating police said, “Among the arrested is a youth leader of a political outfit and another is her relative. More arrests are likely.”

The accused also threat called the victim’s brother to extort money by threatening to make the video public after which her brother and family members questioned her this is when the girl told them about the sexual abuse she has gone through.

“After the initial investigation, they could not trace the woman named in her complaint. A manhunt is on for the rest of the accused,” Police added.

The suryanelli rape case was one of the most disturbing cases of 1996 where January that year in Suryanelli, Kerala, a 16-year-old school girl was allegedly lured with the promise of marriage and eventually was kidnapped and subsequently raped. Later the investigation reports revealed that the girl was allegedly raped by 37 of the 42 accused persons, over a period of 40 days.
