Mehbooba’s Daughter Claims – She was Not Even Allowed to Talk to Mother During Detention, Sent Letters Hiding in Chapatis

Srinagar: Ilija, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has questioned the strict restrictions imposed on the detained leaders. Iltija tweeted on Friday, claiming that she was not even allowed to talk to her mother who was under house arrest after Article 370 was removed. She had to send letters after hiding it in a chapati. Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has said that former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah should be released.

On August 5, 2019, about 1000 leaders were detained after Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir. Many of these leaders have been released in a phased manner. Several leaders, including Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, are still under house arrest. On Thursday evening, Omar and Mehbooba were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

Iltija tweeted that her family faced many problems after the mother (Mehbooba Mufti) was under house arrest. For several days it was not known how her mother was. A few days later, in a tiffin sent to her, I found a note written. In it, she wrote, “Those people (government) have taken an undertaking from me that I will not use social media for conversation. If anyone else does this on my behalf, then a case of cheating will be filed. Miss you so much, lots of love.”

Omar and Mehbooba followed democratic process: Priyanka

Priyanka Gandhi has demanded the release of Mehbooba Mufti. She tweeted, ‘on what basis PSA has been imposed on Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti. They upheld the Constitution of India and followed democratic procedures. They never spread violence and did not divide. They are entitled to be released.’ Earlier on Wednesday too, Priyanka had questioned on Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah being under house arrest for six months.
