Massive fire at City Center Mall in Mumbai Central; Efforts to douse the fire going on since past 10 hours

Mumbai: A huge fire broke out in the City Center Mall at Mumbai Central and efforts have been underway to control the fire for more than ten hours. Some were in the mall when the fire broke out. All of them have been taken out of the mall safely. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is yet to be known. More than 400 civilians have been rescued by the fire brigade. A firefighter was injured in the blaze.

A lot of smoke can be seen coming out of this mall. Currently, work is underway to control the fire on a war footing. The cause of the fire is not yet clear.

The fire was initially categorized as level-one but at about quarter to eleven o’clock, the fire spread to other parts of the complex, after which the fire was declared ‘Level-3’ and the fire brigade was trying to douse the blaze with the help of eight fire engines. This is the second incident of fire in the metropolis on Thursday. Earlier in the day, the fire broke out in a textile factory in Kurla West. It was extinguished after more than two hours.

There are a few buildings adjacent to the city center mall and the fire caused panic among all the residents. Residents of the buildings have fled the area as it is night time and there is a risk of fire. Upon receiving information about the fire, the fire brigade has rushed to the spot.
