Maratha Kranti Morcha: Section 144 imposed in Chakan

Trigger of violence with spark from Hinjewadi IT Park has reached Chakan.

As on Monday the volunteers of Maratha Kranti Morcha claimed the Bandh in Pune. After protesting at various places in Pune, protestors hailed at Pune’s census town Chakan. The agitation has caught the wild-fire and it has turned violent. Protestors have targeted the 100 to 150 vehicles,  25 to 30 ST Buses and Policemen. Four policemen have been seriously injured till now.

As the crowd had been uncontrollable even after the use of tear gas, laathi-charge and firing in the air, police has imposed section 144 in Chakan area.

It is notable that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had confirmed that the crime registered against the  protestors in order to attack the policemen will not be cancelled. There will be proceedings on such protestors.

On behalf of the Maratha community, who is in demand of reservation for Maratha community, the Pune-Nashik National Highway was blocked by the agitators at Chakan of Khed Taluka. There was the situation of traffic jam on the Pune-Nashik highway, Talegaon Chowk from 11am. The protest turned violent in a short span of time.

In Chakan, 25 to 30 vehicles and four ST buses were damaged and burnt. At this time agitators stone pelted over 100 or 150 vehicles. Shops and showrooms were shut down after the threats of Maratha Protest which is becoming violent in Chakan.

The government did not have any action throughout the year on the demands of the Maratha community as said by the protestors thus the Maratha Kranti Morcha protestor has taken a decision to not have any discussion with the government till August 9 and to continue the protest.

More information about this is that, for the purpose of paying homage to Kakasaheb Shinde in the Maratha Thok Morcha agitation, and to take back the crimes filed against protestors, there was called Bandh in Khed Taluka on behalf of the Maratha community.

A rally was organized on the highway by Maratha community protestors at Rajgurunagar and Chakan on Monday morning. After protesting silently for a few moments, some youngsters pelted stones at the vehicles in Chakan. The traffic on the highway was jammed. During the agitation, the police and the agitators were intercepted due to the strike by the protesters and the four ST buses were burned at the time.

Due to the large number of crowds being attacked in the area, the tear-gas was used by the police. When police failed to control the situation, they fired in air. A large police force has been deployed in Chakan and the environment there has become tense.
