Man kills wife and then dies by suicide in Thane

Thane: Man killed his wife and then died by suicide due to family dispute on Wednesday (February 17) in Wagle Estate area of Thane.

The deceased have been identified as Akash Samukharao (29), resident of Wagle Estate, Thane, and Ashwini Samukharao (18).

According to the police, Akash and Ashwini, who work for a private pest control company in Wagle Estate, were married two years ago. She had demanded to live separate from her in-laws due to constant clashes and quarrels. On February 16 night, the couple had an argument over the same issue. The next day when there was no sound from Akash’s house, the neighbours entered the house and found the couple dead.

Police found Ashwini’s body in a pool of blood and recovered a hammer nearby.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vinay Rathore, Assistant Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale and Senior Inspector of Police Vijay Shinde rushed the spot and investigated the matter.

“Srinagar police have registered a case against Akash for murdering his wife and then dying by suicide and the matter is being investigated from all angles”, said Assistant Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale.
