Man arrested for posing as cop and assaulting a woman

AHMEDNAGAR: The Rahata police have arrested a man for posing as a police officer and sexually assaulting a woman under the pretext of marriage. Reportedly, the two were introduced on a social networking site and the accused promised to help the woman in the police recruitment process.

The woman lodged a complaint at Rahata police station.  Accordingly, the police set a trap and arrested Kiran Mahadev, a resident of Hivraphadi in Beed district.

According to the police, Kiran befriended the woman on social media and introduced himself as a police officer and said he was posted at Shirdi police station. He showed a fake ID card. Later, the accused promised to help the woman in getting selected as a police woman and had a sexual relationship with her, asking her to marry him.

Later, the woman started suspecting Kiran and raised doubts. Then, Kiran beat up the woman. After that, the victim lodged a complaint with the police. The police arrested Kiran and recovered a fake police ID card, a police uniform and a photograph. Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Kandore is investigating the case.
