Maharashtra’s this political party is the richest, says ADR results

Association of Democratic reform (ADR) has declared Shiv Sena richest regional party of the financial year 2016-17. With maximum funding of Rs 25.65 crore from 297 donations.

The conclusion was drawn on the basis of information provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

After Shiv Sena, Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was declared on the second position with Rs 24.73 crore from 3,865 donations. And the Punjab-based Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) came third which received Rs 15.45 crore. The reports also stated that counting all three funds of all three parties it is Rs 65.83 crore which includes a total of 72.05 %. It is also said that the among the total donation, the 35.67%  was received from abroad.

Comparing the results of 2015-16n and 2016-17, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the JD (Secular) of Karnataka have maintained the maximum amount of income receiving  Rs 0.43 crore (7,183 percent increase) and 4.2 crores (596 percent), respectively. If we observe the recent event, both the parties are in power. The AGP is in alliance with BJP in Assam and JD (Secular) in Karnataka.

According to the report, out of the total donations declared, Rs 2.82 crore received from 1,919 donations was in cash. Maximum cash donations were received by All India N. R. Congress (AINRC), which is Rs. 60 lakh. AINRC is followed by AGP with Rs 41.2 lakh and Naga People’s Front (NPF) Rs 41 lakh.

If we look at the donation given, Assam would be leading the leaderboard by Rs 72.7 lakh in cash followed by Puducherry at Rs 65.3 lakh.

The ADR is a non-government organization in association with the ECI brings about political and electoral reforms. It has conducted examined 2004, 2009 and 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Rajya Sabha Elections. These election watches have different procedures including background checks of the candidates participating in the elections. The background check is done on the basis of the Criminal, Financial, Educational and Income Tax details.
