Maharashtra: Schools resume after seven months in Nashik, 62 teachers tested corona positive

Nashik : After more than seven months in Nashik district of Maharashtra, schools were re-opened for students from class 9th to 12th on Monday. However, 62 teachers were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus before resuming duty. In a release issued by the district administration, it said that out of 1324 schools in Nashik rural and city area, classes were started in about 846 schools for students from class 9th to 12th.

The release said that 1,21,579 students came to the school. RT-PCR screening of 7,063 principals and teachers as well as 2,500 non-academic staff was conducted before the school opened, of which 62 principals and teachers, plus 10 non-teaching staff were found to be infected with the coronavirus. Maharashtra government has extended lockdown restrictions till 31 January 2021 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The government has appealed people not to go out of the house unnecessarily. Apart from this, it has been advised people to come out of the house only by wearing masks and follow covid19 guidelines. In the advisory issued by the government, it has been said that there is still a danger of coronavirus spread in the state. Therefore, some emergency steps are being taken to stop its spread and the lockdown restrictions in the state are extended till 31 January. It said that the activities which have been granted permission from time to time will continue.

Apart from this, the government has appealed to the people to strictly follow social distance in public places and use masks and sanitizers.
