Maharashtra reports highest daily cases at 9,855

MUMBAI: Amid speculations of lockdown, the state on Thursday reported highest number of Covid-19 cases after October 18 last year.

Nationwide, a total of 17,407 new cases were registered in a day in which Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 9,855.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Karnataka have reported the highest new cases of Covid-19 in the country. Kerala reported 2,765 while Punjab reported 772 new cases.

In wake of spike in corona cases, the Central government has issued fresh guidelines on Thursday.

According to the guidelines, the government has made it mandatory to wear a face protection mask and follow social distancing while visiting malls, restaurants and religious places.

The Centre also stated that manpower will be appointed especially at malls to ensure people are strictly following the norms. The employees of such places should be more careful regarding the guidelines as they are at high risk. Separate entry and exit for visitors will be followed strictly, also the route of workers and goods will be different in the building.

The Centre stated that instead of dining at restaurant, people should prefer takeaways.

Also, thermal scanning of delivery persons is mandatory before they deliver the food. Systematic parking lots are mandatory for managing the crowd. A six-feet distance will be mandatory while in the queue of restaurants.

At religious places, sanitisers will be placed and thermal screening will be conducted compulsory at the entrance. People without any symptoms will only be allowed to enter religious places.
