Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister tests COVID-19 positive

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan tests COVID-19 positive, he informed about it through tweet on Saturday.

“My dear countrymen, I was having symptoms and after my test reports came back it turned out that I tested positive. I appeal to all my colleagues, whoever has come in contact with me, to get their coronavirus tests done. My close contacts must move to quarantine,” he said on social media platform Twitter.

“I am following all the guidelines. I will quarantine myself according to the doctor’s advice. I appeal to the people of my state to be careful. Even a little carelessness can invite the coronavirus disease. I made every effort to avoid Covid but people used to meet me to discuss many issues,” Chouhan said.

Chouhan has urged all his colleagues who have come in contact with him to get tested and go under quarantine.

The first cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in Madhya Pradesh were confirmed on 20 March 2020. These were the first four cases in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh has confirmed a total of 24,842 cases, including 770 deaths and 16,836 recoveries, as of 22 July 2020
