Khopoli: Woman dies in massive explosion at chemical company

Raigad: A huge explosion has taken place in a company in Sajgaon area of Khopoli taluka. A woman was killed in the blast caused by the blast. Four security guards were injured. The blast occurred at around 2.30 am at the Jasnova chemical reactor at Arcos Industrial Estate.

The blast was so loud that the sound reverberated for about two to three kilometers. The sheds of some neighboring companies also collapsed due to a huge blast. A security guard’s wife was killed in this. Three to four people were injured. Apart from Jasnova, SS paper tubes and pen tubes were also damaged in the blast. Not only that, but the windows of several houses within a one-kilometer radius of the Arcos industrial city were shattered.

As soon as the incident was reported, seven to eight fire fighter engines arrived at the spot. The blaze was so large that after four hours of efforts, firefighters were able to douse the fire.

Locals rushed to the spot and evacuated workers from nearby companies upon receiving the news of the blast. The injured have been admitted to Khopoli Municipal Hospital.
