Kedarnath sustains a week despite criticism

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Kedarnath was not just another movie where a Bollywood star’s kid was in a lead role but also justified that nepotism can give us good talented actors.

Before the movie came to our nearest theatres, it was surrounded with some of the other misfortune. From director and producers fight to producers backing out, from the movie going on hold to facing criticism from communal organization to competing with Rajinikant’s 2.0, Kedarnath has come a long way.

With a backdrop of Uttarakhand, the movie focused on minute details between Hindu-Muslim relation and projected the Uttarakhand floods and managed to hold itself in the box office for over a week steadily.

According to initial guesses, on Thursday, Kedarnath earned around Rs 3.10 crore, which makes its total collection so far to around Rs 45.10 crore. With this, it is inching towards the Rs 50-crore mark.

Approximate eight-day box-office collection of Kedarnath: Rs 45.10 crore

 

The film is written, directed and co-produced by Abhishek Kapoor. Which talks about the inter-faith love story between a wealthy Hindu girl whose family owns a lodge and shops near the historic Kedarnath Temple in the Uttarakhand mountains on the other side humble Muslim boy who is a ‘pithoo’ (porter) working in the same vicinity.

As their relationship grows closer, the pair faces many obstacles, including familial disapproval and contrasting backgrounds; when the sudden rains of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods devastate the region, the couple is forced to survive against the elements and face the ultimate test of their love.
