Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election | CM Eknath Shinde while speaking during a road show to campaign for BJP-Shiv Sena candidate Hemant Rasane said, “Kasba Peth is BJP’s stronghold. Mukta Tilak and Girish Bapat have displayed their dedication and loyalty to the party. We told Girish Bapat that he should not take part in the campaign since he was ill but he did not listen to us. He took part in the campaign and boosted the morale of Hemant Rasane. In Mumbai, we withdrew the candidate’s form which had been filled. However, this did not happen here. The opposition parties are indulging in dirty politics. We wanted the Kasba Peth bypoll to be held without any contest but MVA did not allow it to happen.” (Pune Kasba Peth Bypoll Election)
Answering a question about MPSC, he said, “People made fun of me because I said Election Commission instead of MPSC and I was criticised. However, everyone should remember that what finally matters is the result.”
“When farmers seek water, we don’t ask them to look at dams,” he said by taking potshots at Ajit Pawar. “The election should have been held without a contest but the election campaign has reached a new low. The voters will give the right answer,” he said. Criticising Ajit Pawar, he said, “We never say anything wrong and don’t go to a wrong place. We never had to face a situation of going to Krishna Valley and perform a penance. Who had visited the samadhi of Yashwantrao Chavan?” he said.
Ajit Pawar had said the CM is expected to address public meetings and not conduct a road show. Reacting to Pawar’s statement, Shinde said, “Eknath Shinde is an activist who likes to meet and interact with the common man. Many people were standing on the road and students also spoke to me. The students of MPSC are also here. We don’t want to take credit but the students’ stance is our stance and we told this to MPSC. If I speak about something, I get it done. Due to slip of the tongue, I said Election Commission instead of MPSC. However, what finally matters is the result.”
