India’s got talent judge Karan Johar trolled for ‘insulting’ northeast headgears

MUMBAI: NP NEWS24 ONLINE – Filmmaker Karan Johar was trolled on social media with citizens slamming him for allegedly “insulting” the culture and traditional headgears of the people of the northeast.

Karan Johar later apologised on social media and deleted the video from his Instagram account. In response to a tweet, he wrote, “you are absolutely right and I would like to apologise if I have hurt any sentiments… it was purely unintentional and came from a place of no knowledge which is absolutely no excuse… I am extremely sensitive to the different cultures of our land and I am very sorry…”

Karan Johar uploaded a video clip on his Instagram profile on November 10, shot during India’s Got Talent TV show where he and actress politician Kirron Kher along with actress Malaika Arora are co-judges.

The clip shows Kher wearing a spiked bamboo Arunachalee hat and the Bollywood director exclaiming, what is that on your head? Kher replies, “People from Arunachal Pradesh have brought it for me.

She is also asking Karan “why are you not wearing your hat,”karan johar is heard replying “ because you have guts, I don’t .

The filmmaker jocularly continues, “you are going to break into some kind of qawwali”. She replies how can I break into a qawwali in a bamboo hat.

One Netizen responding to johar’s video clip commented , Japi is the pride of Assam so please if you can’t love it then you don’t have right to insult people of north east has very rich culture following the controversy Karan Johar apologised.
