World’s Tallest Statue of Lord Rama Being Built At Manjha Baretha Village In Ayodhya

Ayodhya: The idol of Hindu Lord Ram for the grand Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh is being built in a village 3 km from the temple town of Ayodhya. A 251 metre tall statue of the deity is being indeginously built at Manjha Baretha village. This will be the tallest statue of Lord Ram in the world and will be built completely indigenously.

The tallest statue in the world at present is the statue of Gautam Buddh in China, which is 208 metre tall. In India, Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity stand 182 metre high.

However, the work for the acquisition of land to build the idol is still underway. The statue is being built by the banks of the Sarayu river.

The 251 metre high built will stand on a 50 metre high base and will reach 301 metre high. The base will be atop a museum, where the various avatars of Lord Vishnu will be displayed. One digital museum will also be constructed.

While the residents of the village are happy about the construction of the statue as it will give impetus to development in the area, some fear being displaced from the site. There are nearly 400 houses in the area where the statue will be built.

The residents of the village having been living there since generations and are dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. Around 70 per cent population of the village belongs to the backwards classes.

“The land which is been acquired for the construction of the building is highly fertile. The land should not be acquired without the consent of the villagers,” Village head Ram Chandra Yadav told Asianet Hindi.
