Here is the reason why CM Yogi has banned weddings in Prayargraj

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Ever since the Modi government came in power it has put the ban on many things as if it is not a Democratic government but a dictatorship. The government has put a ban on beef, Guthka and plastic. It also implemented a courageous decision of banning the notes of 1000 and 500. But this government has gone to a different level where the CM Yogi Adityanath has decided to ban the weddings in Prayargraj. Yes ! you read that right no wedding will happen in next year from January to March.

This decision by Yogi put everyone in a state of confusion that how can a government put the ban on something so personal. But now we finally know that why this is happening.

The reason cited behind this decision is mainly Kumbh 2019 where lakhs of devotees will be turning up for various holy ‘snaans’, also sources suggest that the decision was taken in the interest of public convenience. Those who had made advance payments for guest houses, function lawns and caterers are in a fix over the new government diktat. Hundreds are having to change the marriage dates — which are often fixed months in advance — and many are weighing the possibility of changing the venue to a nearby district. People in the wedding business are equally perplexed as they are dependent on the marriage season for their earnings.

As per the order issued, the weddings will not be allowed a day before and after the ‘Kumbh snaan’ which will be held between January and March next year. The order copies have been sent by the district administration to all the wedding hall owners and hoteliers, asking them to cancel all the bookings during the said time.

Kumbh Mela is a mass Hindu pilgrimage of faith in which Hindus gather to bathe in a sacred or holy river. Traditionally, four fairs are widely recognized as the Kumbh Melas: the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, the Prayag Kumbh Mela, the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha, and Ujjain Simhastha. These four fairs are held periodically at one of the following places by rotation: Haridwar, Prayag (Prayaga), Nashik district (Nashik and Trimbak), and Ujjain.

The main festival site is located on the banks of a river: the Ganges (Ganga) at Haridwar; the confluence (Sangam) of the Ganges and the Yamuna and the invisible Sarasvati at Prayag; the Godavari at Nashik; and the Shipra at Ujjain. Bathing in these rivers is thought to cleanse a person of all their sins.
