Haridwar Kumbh Mela : NCPCR guidelines will be followed strictly, Ban on begging of children

Haridwar : How to make Kumbh Mela-2021 child-friendly in Haridwar and prevent children from begging, child labor and other exploitation during Kumbh Mela, as well as how to implement the NCPCR Guidelines at the ground level during the Kumbh Mela? An important decision will be taken keeping all these things in mind. For this the Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights Priyank Kanungo reached Haridwar.

The District Administration, Kumbh Administration, several departments and several institutions met with Roshanabad Situation Collectorate Bhawan and all of them set a target for the implementation of the NCPCR Guidelines during the Kumbh Mela. Apart from this, proper guidelines were also given to all.

These goals will be met
During this, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights said that in this meeting, the goals of Kumbh Mela 2021 have been set. In this, it has been decided in collaboration with the district administration, police administration that according to the NCPCR guidelines for organizing child-friendly fairs, the child friendly Kumbh fair will be held in Haridwar. In order to achieve all the goals, the fair administration, the State Government and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the State Children’s Commission, the local fair organizing committee and the Shri Ganga Samiti will all work together to accomplish these goals.

The Chairperson of the National Commission for Protection of Child also says that the laws that have been made for children, how to follow those laws during the Kumbh Mela have been discussed in detail in the meeting. In this, the migrant children who will come here with their parents will not have any place to stay, then those children will be kept by arranging fit facility through the district administration. Those children will be kept in Children’s Homes, but during the fair, it will be ensured that children will not be begging in the streets, will not work as child labor. The stalls and shops in the fair will not hire child labor and those children who are begging should be rehabilitated.

The work of begging children is done on a large scale in Haridwar, because now the Kumbh Mela is about to come and in this big event, many people from outside can also bring small children to Haridwar and force them to beg. With this, the fair administration and district administration are going to take a tough stance and its outline has been prepared. National Child Protection Commission (New Delhi) Chairperson Priyank Kanungo gave strict instructions to the fair administration and the district administration that harassment of children of any kind should not be seen in the Kumbh Mela.
