Gold worth Rs 1.5 cr seized at Lucknow airport

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Customs Department seized three kg of gold worth Rs 1.49 crore from four passengers who landed at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow from three different flights on February 14.

According to customs, all accused came from Dubai and kept the gold in paste form which was hidden inside the undergarments near the belt area.

Customs Deputy Commissioner Niharika Lakha said, “A total of 3 kg of gold was seized from four persons who reached Lucknow from Dubai via FX 8325, SG 138 AI flight AI 1930. The price of the seized gold is Rs 1,49,10,000.

Lakha said, “They were wearing two undergarments underneath the jeans so as to deceive the custom officers. The authorities confiscated gold and accused have been arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate.”
