Friends kill youth, his girlfriend for Rs 400

In a shocking incident, police investigation has revealed that a youth and his girlfriend, whose bodies were found a week ago, were murdered over a dispute regarding payment of Rs 400 which he had given as loan.

DCP (Zone 3) Ganesh Shinde informed reporters during a press conference on Saturday. The case has been solved by Nigdi police station.

The deceased have been identified as Sonali Wakde alias Max (25) of Nigdi and her friend Salman Shabbir Shaikh (20) of Dehuroad.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ravi Mansingh Valmiki (32) of Dehuroad, Nagesh Shilaman Chavan (23) of Akurdi and Vishal Mahindra Valmiki (25) of Dehuroad. Their two accomplices Sachin Chavan and Prashant Salvi are absconding.

After Sonali went missing, her brother had lodged a missing case on July 19 with Nigdi police station.

According to police, Salman had given Rs 500 to Ravi’s friend who had returned only Rs 100. This had led to fight between Ravi and Salman twice in the past. On the night of incident, these friends were drinking alcohol when again there was argument between them. They strangled Salman to death. Meanwhile, Sonali reached there and tried to raise an alarm, when the accused killed her too. They had thrown here body in Pavana river and her body was recovered on Sunday (July 22) in Thergaon. Salman’s body was dumped in the jurisdiction of Talegaon police station.

Investigation team included senior police inspector Ravindra Jadhav, inspector (crime) Shankar Awtade, API Devendra Chavan, and Laxman Sonawane, Mangesh Gaikwad, Ram Sable, Farooq Mulla and Nitin Bahirat.
