A day after 36 children were rescued from an orphanage-cum-Madrasa in Katraj after being allegedly sexually abused by a teacher (Maulana), a delegation of Muslim community members met Pune city police commissioner and demanded a thorough probe.

“As per media reports, it appears that the said accused is a native of Bihar and was appointed just 3 days ago. We feel that he may be involved in committing such heinous crimes in his previous work places too. We hereby request you to kindly issue orders to investigate his antecedents; his previous work places and his involvement in similar such cases, if any. We feel this may help other such victims to come forward and build a strong case in the investigation. And also send a strong message against all such paedophiles” the delegation submitted in their petition.

Meanwhile police produced the accused before a special court on Saturday, he has been remanded to police custody.
