First Use of Plasma Therapy Fails in Mumbai, Patient Died

Mumbai : Plasma therapy was used first time on a corona infected patient in Mumbai. Which did not succeed and the corona patient died. Plasma therapy was used on a corona patient admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. Actually, this 53 year old patient was being treated with plasma therapy, the patient’s condition was very critical, he was kept in ICU, doctors used plasma therapy on him, but in spite of this the patient could not be saved.

There has been a stir in the hospital premises after the death. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope claimed to have used this treatment method on COVID-19 patient, but it did not succeed. It has been said from the hospital that when the patient was brought to the hospital, his condition was already very critical. He had severe breathing problems due to delayed treatment, developed acute respiratory distress syndrome and pneumonia, even after plasma therapy but could not be saved.

Plasma therapy involves transfusion of the plasma of patients who have recovered from the corona. Therapy uses an antibodies, which is formed in the body against a virus or bacteria, this antibody is removed from the cured patient’s body and put into the sick patient’s body. The virus starts to weaken when the antibody is given to the patient. After this, the chances of recovery of the patient increases. There will be no side effect of donating plasma nor will there be any weakness
