First Time In IIT : One More Chance For Students In 2021 Who Could Not Give JEE Advanced – 2020

New Delhi : For the first time in the history of IIT, students are getting the opportunity to appear for JEE Advanced-2021 for the third time. Due to Covid-19, the Joint Admission Board has announced a relief for students who are not able to take the JEE Advanced -2020 examination along with the change in the admission rules for qualified candidates for one year. Such students will get a chance to sit again in JEE Advanced-2021.

However, this facility will be available only to the successful students who registered in JEE Advanced -2020, but could not participate in the examination for some reason.

The Joint Admission Board meeting held on Tuesday was attended by senior officials of the Union Ministry of Education, directors of all IITs, officials of the National Testing Agency, UGC and AICTE.

This special meeting of the Joint Admission Board was called on the demand of the students, in which it was proposed to give an additional opportunity in JEE Advanced 2021.

In this meeting, students who got successful for JEE Advanced 2020 from JEE Mains 2020, but who could not give the exam due to Containment Zone, Covid-19 Positive or any other reason, will be given another chance in JEE Advanced 2021. Students who did not register in JEE Advanced 2020 will not get this benefit.

However, this additional third opportunity is being given to students of the same year only due to Covid-19.

According to IIT management, more than five thousand students will benefit from this decision. In fact, the top 2.50 lakh students out of the JEE Men’s -2020 qualified for JEE Advanced. However, out of that only 1,60,864 students had registered.

Out of this, only 1,55, 551 students took the exam. Students who had registered for an advanced portal, but did not pay the fees, will also be eligible for this new decision.
