First Shiv Sena MLA from Jalgaon Constituency passes away; NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal pays tribute

Jalgaon: Haribhau Atmaram Mahajan, the first MLA of Shivsena from Jalgaon district has passed away on the intervening night of February 3. His body will be cremated this evening.

Haribhau Atmaram Mahajan passed away at one o’clock in the night. Haribhau Atmaram Mahajan was elected as an MLA from the then Erandol Assembly constituency in the 1990 Assembly elections. He was the first Shiv Sena MLA in the district.

Later, along with NCP leader and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, he left the party and joined the Congress.

NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal paid his tributes and tweeted about the loss saying, “Former MLA of Dharangaon constituency in Jalgaon district Haribhau Mahajan passed away tragically. Haribhau Mahajan was instrumental in the development of the constituency. When I was in Shiv Sena, he was my fellow MLA. When I left Shiv Sena, he was firmly with me”.

“His demise marks the loss of an aggressive and universal leader. My family and I share the grief of his family. A heartfelt tribute to the late MLA Mahajan”, he added.
