Father-in-law killed by son-in-law ; wife and mother-in-law injured

A 55-year-old man succumbed to injuries after being brutally assaulted by his son-in-law who also assaulted his wife and mother-in-law. The incident took place around 3 am on Monday in Koravi Galli of Jawahar Nagar locality in Ichalkaranji, Kolhapur district.

According to police, there was a heated argument in the family following which the accused Ajit Balasao Patil assaulted his father-in-law Dhondiram Maruti Ravan, mother-in-law Radhad and his wife Roopali Ajit Patil with a bamboo stick. After assaulting them brutally, Patil fled from the spot.

The injured persons are undergoing treatment in a private hospital. Pradeep Ravana (33, the resident of Jawahar Nagar) has filed a case against the accused Patil with Shivajinagar police station.

Police said that Ravana’s house is located at the vegetable market in Jawahar Nagar. There, in the morning, there was a quarrel with the son-in-law Ajit Patil. At that time, Ajit started assaulting the three of them with the wooden stick. Dhondiram Ravana died on the spot while he was suffering from serious injuries. Radha and Roopali were injured. Ajit Patil escaped from the place when people started gathering there after hearing the commotion.

After being informed, the police reached the spot immediately. Both Radha and Roopali were admitted to the hospital and Ajit was being searched. Shivajinagar police are investigating more.
