Dr Sanjay Pandey of G. B. Pant Hospital, Delhi, says, ‘Many people have cough complaints post Covid recovery at this time. If there is no fever or any other symptoms, do not worry. Many people have had a cough for two months, but gradually they recover. If the cough is severe or there is blood with mucus, you should consult your doctor.’

Can new Corona variants infect people again?

Dr. Sanjay Pandey says, ‘Many researches have come about this in different countries. According to that research, as long as antibodies remain in the body, the person does not have a corona infection again or can say that they do not have symptoms, i.e. the virus becomes weak, because the antibodies protect them. But there are also different researches about how long antibodies stay in the body, some say for three months or many for six or eight months. But it is to be kept in mind that no matter how the virus changes or any new variant comes, the solution to avoid it is to follow the Covid protocols.’

Why is black fungus disease occurring at the time of corona infection?

Dr. Sanjay Pandey says, ‘Black fungus is already present in our environment, but at this time in the Covid period, Mucormycosis is being found as a disease in people. The reason for this is that the drugs being given, such as dexamethasone and steroids used for Covid treatment, lowers the immunity. Especially in patients with diabetes, it is more effective or it is found in those who are on a ventilator. Therefore, it is said that you should not use steroids or any medicine by yourself. Take medicine under doctor’s supervision only.’

How to protect yourself from black fungus?

Dr. Sanjay Pandey says, ‘If someone has diabetes and has corona, then pay attention to blood sugar. Whenever treating corona or being treated at home, steroids are not needed and if you are taking steroids then take them only under doctor’s supervision.’
