Electricity to be Cheap During Day and Costly During Night, Approval of PMO  

NP NEWS 24 : New Delhi : Now, different rates will be charged for the consumption of electricity in a single day. Morning, afternoon and night electricity rates will vary. According to sources, the Modi government has given a green signal to the Energy Ministry’s ‘Time of Day Tariff’ proposal.  Instructions are also given for planning to implement this proposal in two months. Several rates of electricity are likely to be fixed in a single day.  Electricity rates will vary in the morning, afternoon and night, depending on demand and supply.

A review meeting of Power and Renewable Energy Sector Infrastructure was held. A decision has been taken on this issue at the same meeting. This proposal will be applicable to all sectors (Industrial and Domestic). The Ministry of Energy has been informed that the state has to agree with how the proposal will be implemented. A two-month period has been given for this.

It has also been taken care to not increase current tariffs. Customers will be benefited as the solar energy is available during day-time. The states that are going to implement this new proposal will be given different incentives. States that do not implement this proposal will be deducted from the help provided by the Center.
