Crime Branch arrests vehicle thief; 6 cases detected

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune Crime News | The Crime Branch Unit 4 of the Pune Police have arrested a criminal who stole vehicles in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad area. Two-wheelers valued at Rs 2.80 lakh have been seized after cracking six thefts by the accused. This action was taken on February 3 at Parnkuti Chowk. (Pune Crime News)

 

The arrested accused is identified as Govindaraj alias Govind Madhavrao Waghmare from Nanded. As vehicle thefts are increasing in Pune, police officers and staff of Crime Branch Unit 4 were searching for the accused. Police officers Harish More and Nagesh Singh Kunwar got a tip-off that the vehicle thief was standing at Parnkuti Chowk and the two-wheeler he was carrying was stolen. The team laid a trap and detained the accused.

 

After interrogation, it was found that he had stolen the vehicles from the areas of police stations, including Yerwada, Koregaon Park, Dighi, Nigdi. Two-wheelers worth Rs 2.80 lakhs have been seized from the accused and six cases of vehicle theft have been brought to light. The accused has been handed over to the Yerawada police for further investigation.

 

The action was taken by a team comprising PI Ganesh Mane, API Vikas Jadhav, PSI Jaideep Patil, Police constables Mahendra Pawar, Nagesh Singh Kunwar, Harish More, Vinod Mahajan, Ramesh Rathod, Manoj Sangle, Shital Shinde under the guidance of CP Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Crime Ramnath Pokale, DCP Crime Amol Zende, ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
