COVID19: India reports 12,408 new cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 tally of cases went past 1.08 crore with 12,408 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, while the recoveries have surged to 1,04,96,308, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
According to the data, there are 1,51,460 active cases of coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.40 per cent of the total cases.
Total cases stand at ,08,02,591, while death toll increased to 1,54,823 with 120 daily new fatalities.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease surged to 1,04,96,308 pushing the national COVID-19 recovery rate to 97.16 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.43 per cent.
So far, 49,59,445 people have been vaccinated in the vaccination drive in India which begun on January 16, the Ministry data showed.
A total of 19,99,31,795 samples have been tested for COVID19 up to 4th February. Of these, 7,15,776 samples were tested yesterday, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated.
Yesterday, 2736 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra, taking the total number of cases to 20,36,002 in the state. 5339 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, with total recoveries at 19,48,674.
Maharashtra reported 46 new deaths in the last 24 hours, with total death toll at 51, 215. At present, there are 34,862 active cases in the state.
