Coronavirus : Travel to Mecca and Medina Prohibited, Saudi Arabia Suspended Passenger Entry Visa

New Delhi: Saudi Arabia prohibits travel to Mecca and Medina, a place sacred to Muslims. Saudi Arabia has taken this important decision before the annual Hajj pilgrimage. So far 220 cases of corona infection have been reported in Middle East countries. Apart from Mecca, Arabia has also prohibited the visit to the mosque of Prophet Mohammed located in Medina. This decision by Saudi Arabia shows how serious it is with the coronavirus infection.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that we have decided to suspend the entry visas of all countries. The ministry said, “Saudi Arabia is also with the world to stop the spread of coronavirus. We have also instructed the citizens of our country to refrain from travelling to the countries affected by the Coronavirus. We pray that God save the entire humanity from this virus.”

Among the countries of the Middle East, Iran is most affected by Corona. Even Iran’s Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirqi is affected by this and has been kept aside for treatment. There have been 139 reported cases of corona infection in Iran, of which 19 people have died. Apart from this, 33 cases have been reported in Bahrain.

Significantly, thousands of people arrive every month to perform Umrah in Mecca and Medina, located in Saudi Arabia. Even though the pace of new cases of coronavirus infection has slowed in China, new cases are being reported continuously in the Middle East countries.
