Coronavirus Cases Exceeds 51 Lakhs in US; Europe Amazed to See the Failure Of the World’s Most Powerful Country

Washington : Coronavirus cases in the US exceeded 51 lakh on Sunday, which is the highest in any country in the world so far. However, health officials believe that due to limitations of investigation and a large number of cases with fewer symptoms, the number in the US may be several times higher or around 50 million. Approximately 54,000 new cases are being reported daily in the US, after which cases of COVID-19 have increased to 5,199,444. At the same time, the death toll from this virus has increased to 165,617.

In contrast, virus cases in Europe seem to be under control at least for now. Europe is amazed to see the failure of the world’s most powerful country, the United States, to control the cases of infection.

In February, when there was a sudden increase in infection cases in Italy, it was not ready to handle it. However, a 10-week strict lockdown in Italy, a vigilance campaign to identify the infected, and public acceptance of wearing masks and social distance from each other made Italy a model for controlling cases.

Patrizia Antonini, who was walking around the shore of Lake Bresciano in the north of Rome with her friends, said about the people of America, “Do they not worry about their health? They need to take more precaution. They need a real lockdown.”

Massimo Franco, who wrote an article in the daily newspaper Corriere Della Serra, said, “We the Italian always saw America as an ideal but with this virus, we found that America is a country which is very fragile, whose basic structure and public health system are weak.”
