Cop shoots wife with her father & mother to death in Jammu

A policeman allegedly killed his wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law after a spat in Jammu on Tuesday night, officials said.

Official sources said the policeman Ravinder Kumar from IRP fired upon his wife Seema Devi, mother-in-law Raj Kumari, and father-in-law Romesh Kumar with service weapon at their home in Allora village. Raj Kumari died on spot while Seema and Romesh were shifted to GMC Jammu in serious conditions. Later they succumbed to injuries, they said.

“He came and offered us sweets on the pretext of his promotion,” said other family members adding that later the accused fired with his assault rifle killing three persons including his wife, mother-in-law and father-in-law on spot and injuring two others. “There was family dispute between husband and wife which is the basic cause of this incident”, said family members.

Inspector General of Police in Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh told KNO that accused person has been arrested and further investigation and other legal formalities are going on.

Hundreds of people assembled at the GMC Hospital in Jammu where the bodies were taken by police and staged a protest.
