Complete 24×7 water supply scheme within stipulated time: Chandrakant Patil

Pune :  NpNews24 Online  –Pune Water Supply | District Guardian Minister and Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil reviewed the measures taken by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to control water consumption in the city. He issued instructions that the municipal corporation should complete all other works of water supply, along with the equitable water supply scheme within the stipulated time frame. Special attention should be paid to ensure that there is no delay. (Pune Water Supply)

 

Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Neelam Gorhe, Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly Ajit Pawar, MLAs Dattatray Bharne, Madhuri Misal, Bhimrao Tapkir, Siddharth Shirole, Chetan Tupe, Rahul Kul, Sunil Tingre, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar were present.

 

Chandrakant Patil said that he will review the works of the water supply scheme every month. The PMC should work on a war-footing to complete the works of water tanks by September 2023 and pipeline work by June 2024. The project will increase water storage capacity by 33 percent, providing equal access to water for all.

 

Chandrakant Patil said old pipelines should be replaced to stop water leakages. Work to prevent leakages should be completed immediately by increasing the number of staff as per requirement. The works of water leakage in the societies should be completed immediately. Care should be taken that potable water is not used for construction, gardening.

 

The sanctioned water quota, source-wise daily water consumption of the previous year, water budget, zone-wise water treatment centres, the equitable water supply project, tanks project, progress and planning of pipeline works, progress and planning of installation of meters were reviewed.

 

There is a need to pay attention to water leakages in housing societies. Leader of the Opposition Ajit Pawar sought details from the municipal authorities regarding the implementation of the Jaica project.

 

The Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe said while paying attention to stop trade in water, other causes of water leakage should also be found.
