Transgenders’ dream of becoming a cop will come true, ‘MAT’ issues important order
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Police Recruitment | Recruitment of police personnel will be held in the state, in which all sections of society, including transgenders, will be accommodated through reservations and other means. Now, transgenders can also apply. For this purpose, the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal (MAT) has issued an order on Wednesday that transgenders should be accommodated in the police department by providing online facilities till December 4.
The transgenders alleged that there is no provision of reservation forthem in police recruitment and that there is discrimination on the basis of sex. Nikita Makhydal, who is working as a security guard in the security department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, had given a statement to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through email. Nikita is a ‘trans’ woman. She and other transgenders are preparing for police recruitment.
It was expected that there will be reservation for transgenders in this year’s police recruitment. However, no reservation was given to them. This is injustice with transgenders Even after preparing for police recruitment, if chance is not given, then how to prove yourself? What is important for a job, gender or qualification and talent? Nikita raised these questions.
Nikita filed a petition in the MAT over this issue. Now, the MAT has issued an order. A separate column should be provided for third genders to submit applications in the recruitment process. Also, the MAT has ordered that the criteria of recruitment for transgenders should be the same as those for women candidates.
