Chidambaram’s bail plea rejected by Delhi HC

NPnews24 online : Union finance minister P Chidambaram’s bail plea was rejected by Delhi High Court for protection from arrest in the INX Media case.

On Tuesday, Chidambaram’s lawyer asked for three-day stay and interim protection from arrest with both the CBI and Enforcement Directorate opposing his plea saying the congress leader was required for custodial interrogation.

In 2007, the Central Bureau of Investigation had registered an FIR alleging irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion (FIPB) clearance given to INX Media to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when Chidambaram was the Union finance minister.
