CBI Starts Probe into SSR Death Case, Took a Suspect to Guest House For Questioning

Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has reached the guest house where they are staying with a person associated with Sushant Singh Rajput death case for questioning. According to sources, a meeting of CBI officials from Delhi on Thursday is taking place at the Airforce Transit Facility in Santacruz, Mumbai.

The CBI team will initiate an investigation into the case from Sushant Singh Rajput’s residence in Bandra, where he was found dead on 14 June. Meanwhile, CBI officials clarified that it will not arrest any suspects in the death case until any concrete evidence is found against them. CBI sources have told ANI that a Special Investigation Team officer and a forensic expert will re-examine the crime scene at Sushant’s residence in Mumbai.

The CBI officer will also interrogate the Mumbai Police team, which had reached the crime scene earlier. Sources have said that apart from Mumbai Police officials, other members and friends of Sushant Singh will also be interrogated. Not only this, the CBI will also interrogate all the suspects whom the Mumbai Police has interrogated earlier.

On August 19, the Supreme Court had handed over the case to the CBI, justifying the FIR lodged in Patna by Bollywood actor Sushant Singh’s father. A single judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy also said that the Bihar government is competent to recommend a CBI probe and the case is transferred to the CBI.

The apex court asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI. Justice Roy had said that the Maharashtra government refused the option to challenge the order of the Supreme Court. The CBI has registered an FIR against Actress Rhea Chakraborty after the Bihar government accepted the recommendation to shift the investigation in the case from Patna. Rhea Chakraborty is the main suspect in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.
