‘Bharat Bandh’ impacted decorations for Ganapati celebration

Ganesh festivals are mere three days away of its arrival and the nationwide shutdown is creating hindrance in its preparations. After Congress called a Bharat Bandh on Monday, many parts of Pune, Maharashtra witnessed agitation by the protestors.

The city of Pune, Maharashtra which usually remains closed on Monday and now the nationwide shutdown is not only troubling the commoners but majorly the Ganesh Mandal authorities.

When the decoration of mandals are on its verge of completion, various decorations and arrangements are being made by the Ganesh Mandals, but due to the shutdown, Mandal workers are not able to buy stuff for their decorations.

Ramdas Barbale, a worker in Ganpati mandal said, “To earn our daily bread and butter we are working and are busy in decorations of Mandals. But, such protests by people are causing us a lot of trouble. We have a deadline to complete the arrangements and we are afraid if such goes on, it will be difficult for us to complete.”

“We are preparing for this day since several days, and such agitations are causing delay in our work. If we are unable to complete the decorations, what is the use of so much of hard work”, said Shahadev Jagtap, ganpati mandal.

“I was unable to withdraw money from ATM. i wanted to buy some materials for decoration of Mandal, which I couldn’t. I just pray that the Bandh is called off soon, and we start our decorations again”, said a worker from Mandal.

This Thursday onwards, devotees and citizens of Pune, will be visiting various mandals to visit various Ganpati festivals on the occasion of Ganeshotsav. The Ganesh mandals have to fasten their preparations and complete it within time.

Although, Ravi Shankar Prasad, IT Minister of India said, “Decreasing the prices of fuel is not in the hands of government. According to the availability of fuel, the prices might increase or decrease.”

Opposition party’s leader of Congress, Rahul Gandhi announced in a speech early in the morning blaming BJP government about the poor condition of farmers and the needy.

The state of Maharashtra is already witnessing destruction in the city past several months after Maratha Kranti Morcha agitation and other endless protests. Various parts of Pune and Maharashtra are witnessing violence and destruction.

Condition in Pune and all over Maharashtra:

Congress agitators are on the streets carrying banners, flexes and are throwing slogans against BJP government. The banks, ATMs were opened around 10 am in the morning but all were closed by 12 pm. The shops on Laxmi road, Peth area in Pune were closed including all Petrol pumps and banks. Long queues were witnessed in the petrol pumps.

The Pune city police are deployed at all places. To avoid any dispute, ladies and gents police officials are being deployed in Deccan, Alka Chowk, Fegusson College Road and such areas. Protests were also carried in the Shivaji Nagar of Pune.
Pimpri-Chinchwad city based Manse workers, agitated against the government by lying down on the streets. They were soon arrested by the police; it dragged the agitators and took strict action against them.

Some buses were destroyed and bus tires were punctured.
