Burglars strike at Pashan house, decamp with booty worth Rs 4.25 lakh

PUNE: Burglars broke into a house in Pashan and looted items worth Rs 4.25 lakh, the police said on Thursday.

An 80-year-old woman had lodged a complaint at Chaturshrungi police station in this regard. The thieves entered the house with a scythe and tied the woman’s hands and stuffed cloth in her mouth, the police said. A case has been registered against four unidentified persons.

According to the police, the complainant lives in Panchavati Society in Pashan. She had appointed a caretaker in her house. Around 7.30 pm on Wednesday (March 3), four persons broke into her house with a sickle, a knife and a machete. The accused started beating the caretaker first with a scythe and a stick, upon which he fell unconscious.

The accused then tied the woman’s hands and mouth with a cloth and looted Rs 25,000 in cash and a total of Rs 4.25 lakh worth items including jewellery from her bedroom.

Chaturshrungi police are further investigating the case.
