BREAKING: Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa resigning from the post

New Delhi: As per the sources, the Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa will be resigning as Election Commissioner soon, as he has appointed as a Vice-President of Asian Development Bank.

Lavasa has well-known for having opposed five clean chits given by the Election Commission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct.

He will be joining as Asian Development Bank Vice-Preisdent, taking over from Diwakar Gupta as ADB’s Vice-President for Private Sector Operations and Public–Private Partnerships.

As a multilateral institution, ADB senior appointments of nationals from member countries are normally made with not just the concurrence of the government concerned but also at its request.
