Break down in Congress, more likely to quit

NPnews24 Online: The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) government in Karnataka suffered another jolt after MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi submitted his resignation from the state assembly membership. The Congress MLA is the second one to resign from state assembly in the last 24 hours.

Earlier in the day, Congress MLA from Vijayanagar Anand Singh resigned without an explanation; He is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

There have been rumours rife that at least five more MLAs from the ruling coalition are likely to tender their resignation.

After the 2018 Karnataka Assembly Elections, the Congress had won 80 seats, JD(S) 37 and the BJP 104. In an assembly of 225 seats, Congress and JD(S) pooled their MLAs to cross the half-way mark of 113 and formed the government
