Bollywood Sexual Harassment : Anurag Kashyap Refutes Allegations, Claims He Wasn’t In India

Mumbai: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was interrogated by Versova police after a sexual harassment case filed against him by actress Payal Ghosh. Now a day after investigation, he has denied all allegations in a statement by his lawyer Priyanka Khimani. The lawyer wrote, “Anurag Kashyap has denied all the allegations in the case and has given his statement to the police.”

Describing the complaint as a “lie”, she said in the statement, “Kashyap has provided documentary evidence of the fact that he was in Sri Lanka in connection with the shooting of one of his films in August 2013. Kashyap has clearly stated that no such alleged incident has ever happened and he has also denied all the allegations leveled against him.”

She said that the filmmaker has been charged with wrong motives. Kashyap is distressed by the false and baseless allegations leveled against him, which has hurt him, his family and his fans. Kashyap intends to strictly follow the legal remedies available for this.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was questioned by the Versova police on Thursday for about eight hours. Anurag has been accused of sexual harassment by the 30-year-old actress and asked the actress to join the investigation on Tuesday. On September 22, the police filed an FIR against Anurag Kashyap for sexual exploitation. The actress had told that all this happened to her when she approached Anurag for work.

Kashyap is charged under sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to humiliate a woman), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful torture) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Anurag has denied these allegations. On Thursday, Kashyap, accompanied by his lawyer, reached Versova police station at around 10 pm and left at 6 pm.
