Assistant Forest officer caught taking Rs 65,000 bribe

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Officials from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Friday nabbed an assistant forest officer while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 65,000 at a mall in Aundh here.

The arrested accused has been identified as Gita Vishal Pawar (32), who is a class one officer.

According to ACB, a 32-year-old man who is a government contractor has lodged the complaint in this regard. The contractor had laid pipelines for the irrigation department which passed through forest land. The accused allegedly demanded Rs 70,000 bribe for not filling case against him for laying the pipeline on forest land.

After the contractor lodged the complaint, the ACB laid the trap at Westend Mall in Aundh, where the officer was caught accepting Rs 65,000 bribe. The amount was reduced after negotiation.
