Another Manjhi : Dalit Man Digs Well for His Wife in Just 40 Days, Takes Revenge for Wife’s Insult

Mumbai : You must remember Dashrath Manjhi of Bihar, who cut the mountain and made way for people after the death of his wife. Now another Dashrath Manjhi has appeared in Kalambeshwar in Washim district of Maharashtra. When the upper caste people did not allow Bapurao Tajne’s wife to take water from the well, he dug a well for his wife in just 40 days. All the Dalits are using the well which Bapurao Tajne has dug.

This story of indomitable courage and determination to dig a well has emerged from humiliation and derision. Due to the lack of water, Tajne’s wife had went to get water from the well, two kilometers from the house, but the owner of the well humiliated her and refused her to take water. The wife, who reached home without water, told the whole story to her husband Bapurao Tajne.

Tajne did not get angry over the insult of his wife. Turning the humiliation of his wife into courage, Tajne started digging well, people made fun of him. People tried to break his determination and asked where the water would be found in the stony area. People called him insane.

Tajne believed in his hard work. He continued to dig the well. He dig well for six hours every day after the wages of 8 hours. After digging for 13 feet, water came into the well. After this, Tajne’s name emerged as a hero in Maharashtra.

The interesting thing is that the village people who used to make fun of him, he allowed the whole village to use the well. He believes that he does not want to see people being humiliated as he was humiliated.
