Amol Chavan, Accused in Extortion Case Arrested By Kothrud Police

Pune: Amol Chavan has been arrested by Kothrud Police on Wednesday. He was accused of having connection with alleged cheating and extortion charges leveled by city-based property developer Sudhir Karnataki. According to police, Chavan was hiding from the police for the last 42 days, the tip was given by the sources. Chavan is alleged to play a major role in demanding a ransom of 2 crores from the Karnataki and threatening of killing if failed.

‘Bombay high court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Chavan and Right to Information Activist Ravindra Bharate, both have charges of fraud and blackmail under their name. There other multiple criminal charges including an attempt to murder on Chavan. He also works as a cricket bookie and is involved in betting.’, further added cops.

‘He has been co-accused in the land grabbing cases, other than this he was also involved in black magic angle cases’, said officials.–
