Again in Gujarat : 100 Trainee Women Employees Forced to Stand Nude for Medical Tests

Surat: NP NEWS 24 – Last week, a shocking case of forcing 68 girl students to take off their underwear had come in light from a hostel in Gujarat (Bhuj district) to find out their monthly period. Later it was severely criticized.

Once again, a similar embarrassing case has come in light from Gujarat.  The same thing has happened to the Surat women corporation’s trainee women employees. Surprisingly, some unmarried women were even asked objectionable questions.

The case is related to a hospital in Surat municipality of the state government. The SMC Employees Union has complained about this incident to the municipal officer.

According to the information received, 100 trainee women employees of the municipality were taken to the Medical and Research Institute of Surat for a necessary fitness test. There the trainee clerk was asked to stand in a group of 10–10. Also, questions were raised about their personal life.

One female employee told that ‘We were made to stand naked in a room whose door was not locked properly.  There was only a curtain.’

Other women alleged that ‘we were treated in a rude manner during the fitness test. Private sex life was also questioned. Not only this, some unmarried women asked if they were pregnant.’

On this issue, Ashwin Bachhani, head of the hospital’s Department of Women’s Disease, said that ‘as per the hospital guidelines, physical examination of women was required. I do not know if this type of investigation is done by men. However, women have to follow these rules. It is seen that a woman does not have any disease.’
