7 Elephants pathetically died after electrocution in Puri

PURI- NP NEWS 24 ONLINE– Where shockingly, the animals are extinct gradually from the forests due to various reasons.

In a tragic death, seven elephants were found dead after being reportedly electrocuted when they came in contact with a live wire.

From the scene, one could imagine how dreadful and painful the death of the elephants might have been. And, that the elephants went out in search for food.

This incident took place near Kamalanga Village in Dhenkanal District, Orissa during the night.

Puri, Odisha has always been famous for Its beaches, view of sunrise and sunset, horse, camel and elephant rides. And elephant which is considered as a god by the Hindus, this news is quite depressing.

When the villagers woke up in the morning, they saw the elephants lying dead near the village areas.

The incident has created a chaos in the village as the villagers and localites were shocked to see the dead elephants lying on the fields of the villages.

As soon as the villagers witnessed the horrific situation, they immediately called the forest and wildlife department officials were called to the spot to examine the whole scenario.

Officials said a herd of 13 elephants entered the village in the forest area during that night in search of food when they came in contact with the 11KV laid by railway department for track construction work.

In December 2012, a similar incident took place in which six elephants were knocked to death by a speeding express in Rambha area of Ganjam district.

In a similar incident which took place in April, four elephants, a tusker and a calf were killed when a speeding train rammed all of them to death.

A serious investigation into this matter has already begun.
