21-year-old beaten to death by cement pole in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: A 21-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his friend in fit of rage following an argument between the two on Tuesday. The accused allegedly killed him by crushing his face with a cement pole on the Ichalkaranji-Hatkanangale Road.

The deceased has been identified as Shubham Umesh Kamlakar (21), a resident of Hatkanangle.

Upon receiving information, Hatkanangale police rushed to the spot and carried out preliminary investigation. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jayashree Gaikwad and Police Inspector Ashok Bhavad visited the spot. The police recovered a cement pole, rope and a drug band from the scene.

According to the police, Shubham used to work as a rickshaw puller and as a mechanic in a welding shop. After work, he went to Korochi with his friend. The two started drinking. Meanwhile, an argument broke out between them and the accused started beating up Shubham with a cement pole and a rock. Unfortunately, Shubam died in the brawl.

According to the police, Shubham was first strangled and then hit with a cement pole and rock.

Hatkanangale police are further investigating the case.
