14 Killed in Train Accident Near Aurangabad, All were the Laborers Walking Towards the Village

Aurangabad: In a tragic accident, at least 14 people have been killed after being crushed under a freight train between Badnapur and Karmad. The 19 workers, who worked for a steel company in Jalna, had left on foot to catch a train from Aurangabad to the village. At night they were all asleep on the railway track when the freight train crushed them. Among 19, five were seriously injured while 14 died on the spot.

Passenger services are currently closed due to the lockdown. However, the railways have started carrying freight to some extent. On Thursday, Railway sent a train to Bhopal for laborers from Madhya Pradesh. So, hoping that they could reach the village in same train, the laborer of a steel company took a walk to catch the train at night.

Between Badnapur and Karmad, near Satana Shivara they fell asleep on the railway tracks. They, deep in sleep, could not know the train coming from Jalna to Aurangabad on Friday morning and in a sad incident, everyone got crushed under the freight train. Fourteen people died on the spot. 5 people were injured.

It is reported that a train ambulance came to Purna (Dist. Parbhani) junction to treat the injured. Police are investigating further in the case.
