10-year-old Deaf and Dumb girl died after being raped

WEST BENGAL: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- The rape victims in the country are spreading with the passage of time and the incidents have started coming into light gradually.

Recently, a dreadful and tragic incident has took place in West Bengal in which a differently-abled 10-year-old minor who was allegedly raped breathe her last in a nearby hospital.

The incident took place in Simulia area of Howrah district on Monday. The minor died while she was been taken to the hospital.

There has been a chaotic situation created all over in West Bengal. There is an outrage of emotions among people in West Bengal as the citizens are demanding for justice to the victim.

According to a police official, the incident however came into light on Thursday when the deceased’s mother noticed that she had been behaving strangely since several days and also had urinary problems.

He informed that the special girl was raped inside a toilet near her residence on Monday after which she was rushed to a local hospital. After reaching the hospital, the doctors confirmed that it was a case of rape and sent the girl to the Uluberia sub-divisional hospital but died on the route, said the officer.

The police has been investigating on the case since then and the 18 year old accused was finally arrested on Friday. He was produced in Uluberia court, which remanded him to seven days police custody and was produced in the court.

The police has arrested him under the section 375 in the Indian Penal Code according to which if a person is found guilty of committing rape, shall be punished with rigorous imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not he less than seven years, but which may extend to imprisonment for life, and shall also be liable to fine
