Won’t give permission to Metro Work till…… –  DCP Tejaswi Satpute

PUNE: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Permission to start Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation’s (Maha-Metro’s) work at Nal Stop Chowk will not be given, till the trail of traffic change between SNDT to Nal Stop Chowk is done. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tejaswi Satpute made it clear on Saturday.

She further said that Metro has separate branch for traffic survey. And this branch studied traffic and suggested two options for change. According to its suggestions, first option was about to make barricading on Karve Road and keep traffic running as earlier. Whereas second option was about the ring traffic system. Yet first option wasn’t successful.

At such time, the ring traffic plan will be implemented. After this if trail get failed, it will be told to Maha-Metro officials that restudy it and find better solution. After changing the traffic of Karve Road, there will be some problems for the citizens, but efforts should made to minimise these problems. In this case, the final decision will not be taken unless the traffic change is successful, expressed by DCP Satpute.

She further said that only one lane of the road was stopped by barricading on Karve Road on Saturday. If this plan is successful then heavy vehicles will be released from that lane in the next few days and the remaining vehicles will be taken from the SNDT, Canal Road, Athawale Chowk Road to the Nal Stop Chowk from the ring system.
