Woman booked for abetting suicide of youth whom she refused to marry

Pune: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – A 26-year-old woman has been booked by Pune city police for allegedly abetting suicide of a youth by not marrying him after making promises.

Lata Surendra Chikate (51) of Malegaon in Akola district has lodged an FIR in this regard with Deccan Gymkhana police station. The accused woman has been identified as Trupti Narendra Jirapure of Pune.

According to police, the accused Trupti and deceased Adarsh (27) were in a relationship for the last five years. She had reportedly promised to marry him but now refused to do so. Unable to bear the mental harassment, Adarsh committed suicide by hanging himself at a hotel in Deccan area on October 24.

Initially police had registered a case of accidental death (AD), but later investigated the case registered the FIR against Trupti for offence under section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)
